Integration does not happen on its own; achieving success requires effort, patience, and mutual understanding. This process is vital not only for migrants, but for all of us.

As people who have gone through a long and challenging journey of integration,and some of us are still walking this path, we know very well how demanding yet equally enriching this process can be. For this very reason, we see it as a responsibility to share our experiences and what we have learned with others, and to give this back to our society. With this awareness, we set out on this path and decided to take responsibility.

No matter which corner of the world people come from, their basic needs are the same. Bread is a symbol of nourishment; every person needs it. Likewise, a safe home is indispensable. Of course, there are many other basic needs beyond these. We trust that you understand what we mean.

Thanks to Germany’s social state system, everyone has access to food and housing. However, human needs do not end there. People need encounters, communication, and the feeling of being part of society. It is precisely at this point that the capacities of the social state reach their limits. And this is exactly where we, as Kompass für Integration e.V., want to step in.

Our aim is to accompany people on their integration journeys, to support them, and to encourage them. We want to contribute to Germany’s “integration issue” and, as our association’s name suggests, be a compass that guides people through their integration processes.
